What to do and where to go?

Rent a bicycle at some of the stands in Puerto Viejo and pedal 15km along the road parallel to the coast from Puerto Viejo to Manzanillo.

Take your time to enjoy the great landscape offered in the Southern Caribbean area. Take short walks on different beaches, or go up to the Punta Uva and Manzanillo viewpoint.

To enjoy the beautiful Caribbean Sea, you can be adventurous and practice snorkeling, ocean kayaking, paddle boarding, and surfing.

Keep your eyes open for sloths, howler monkeys, or toucans, which are common to see from the side of the road or beach.

While visiting the region, you can also enjoy Cahuita National Park and the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge.

The Volio waterfall is one of the Bribrí waterfalls that is most hidden in the tropical jungle.

Costa Rica is home to some eight major indigenous groups, with the Bribrí population being one of the largest indigenous tribes in Costa Rica.

Having breakfast at Soda Kawe in Cahuita, or at the Old Harbor Supermarket in Puerto Viejo are just some of the many options you can have to enjoy Caribbean cuisine.
